Check your tires! Are you ready for the winter season? Starting on October 1st, drivers will be required to have winter tires on the majority of B.C. highways. Winter weather in BC can be very unpredictable, keep yourself and others safe by getting the proper winter tires. If you dont you could face a fine of $109 and you may be required to turn around, preventing you from reaching your destination.
Winter tire regulations are from October 1st- March 30th, but they have been extended to April in certain B.C. mountain passes in past years.
There are two types of approved winter tires:
Mountain and Snow Tires (3 peaked mountain and snowflake symbol)If you get into an accident and you dont have winter tires required, not having them may affect whether or how much you may be at fault. Please be winter ready. Get those tires on your vehicle before the weather changes and you are stuck or unable to get where you need to go.
Keeping your tires inflated to the correct pressure is one of the most important parts of tire care and is often overlooked. Check your tires when they are cold, the temperature will affect your tire pressure as it will drop in colder weather.
Dont leave your tires outside in the elements, store them indoors so they will last longer, providing you with more value out of your investment. If you store them still mounted, reduce the tire pressure to 15 PSI and re-inflate when youre ready to use them again. If you dont have the room to store your tires, contact us at Maple Ridge Volkswagen and we can provide you with some options.
